Fitness Center & SilverSneakers®

Our Fitness Center offers a variety of fun fitness opportunities for area seniors.  The Fitness Center is equipped with commercial-grade equipment, including 3 treadmills, 2 elliptical trainers and 2 Bio-Step machines (special recumbent-style elliptical trainers often used in physical rehab programs), 3 pieces of Keiser Strength Equipment, multi-station cable column machine, and a recumbent bike.  Seniors can also supplement their routines with an assortment of hand weights, stretch bands and balance balls.  Plus, our Wii Fit equipment is so much fun you won't believe you're exercising. The Fitness Center is open daily 5 am-midnight, daily. (If working out after 4:00pm or before 8:00am you must have a key fob and enter the building through the SE entrance. Volunteer hosts are available from 6:00am to 6:00pm M-F unless prior arrangements have been made.)

 Annual membership is $65/individuals, $90/married couple and free for persons eligible for SilverSneakers®.  Membership includes access to the fitness center and free attendance at all Fitness Center and SilverSneakers® classes.  Not sure?  Try it out with a $2 day pass.

Exercise Classes                                     EnhanceFitness: A comprehensive fitness program for seniors.  Based on solid research and tested at over 100 sites around the country, EnhanceFitness focuses on stretching, flexibility, balance, low impact aerobics, and strength training exercises — everything health professionals say we need to maintain health and function as we grow older. EnhanceFitness will provide additional exercise opportunities which will complement to our existing SilverSneakers® classes and other fitness programs. Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:30am

SilverSneakers® Classes:
MSROM (muscular strength and range of motion):  Mondays & Wednesdays at 9am and 10am and Fridays at 10am in the Fitzgerald Room
CardioCircuit:  Monday, Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the lower level multi-purpose room
YogaStretch: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10:30 am in the lower level multi-purpose room
SilverSplash:  Tuesdays & Fridays at 8:00am & Thursdays at 12:30pm in the pool at Birchaven.

Water Exercise:  Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10:00 am in the pool at The Hampton Inn.  Open to all Hancock Co. Seniors age 55+--you do not need to be a fitness center member.  Classes are by donation to help cover the cost of pool access.

Pickleball This fun, active, senior-friendly racquet sport is a cross between paddleball and badminton.  Drop by the court located near the Picnic Pavilion during the summer: Monday/Wednesday at 5:30pm, and Tuesday/Thursday at 9:00am Free to seniors, you do not need to be a Fitness Center member to play Pickleball.                                     Winter Schedule:                                                                 Chamberlin Hill: (Free) Tuesdays 7:00pm-9:00pm                           YMCA East Branch: ($3.00 if not an YMCA member) MWF 1-3:00pm/Friday 7-9:00pm

Hearing Aid Cleaning Clinic
Free, no appointment needed. 2nd Tuesday, 11 AM to 1 PM
Miracle Ear will be on hand to inspect & clean hearing aids; new batteries available.

Blood Pressure Clinics: (FREE - walk-in basis) Tuesdays from 11:00-1:00PM Blood oxygen level screenings are also available.

Reflexology: Appointment required 419-423-8496. By donation.  This ancient healing art applies pressure to core nerve points on the hands and/or feet to promote relaxation and healing.

Medication Management Program

The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy and the Hancock County Agency on Aging are partnering to present a new program to help people improve their health by better managing their medications.    Participants in the program will receive a detailed medication review, medication safety surveillance, continued support on medication management, disease management consultation and support  and may even see a reduction in medication costs through the elimination of errors.  To learn more, plan to attend a  Lunch and Learn presentation, call Beth Wilkins at 419-423-8496 for reservations and further details.
